Well, he'd been having trouble getting someone to vote for him, and then we weren't sure whether June would trade with him or I would. I'll probably trade with Ronove.

If you've never talked to Niles before, that's okay. Because you can tell him that Santa said it is very important that Niles vote for you.

I don't mean he said to me ten minutes ago "Niles should vote for Mary". I mean he said a while ago, back when he was here, "if something like this happens later, Niles should vote for Mary."

[she puts her hand over her lips with splayed fingers like that one Alice sprite; this is consistent with her tendency to play up reactions around Mary, but she might actually be genuinely impressed] I didn't want to say it like that and make you feel like I was rejecting you... Mary, you're really smart.

You see, that's what Santa really said. That Lotus not voting for Mary is important, but Mary getting a vote is also important. That's how I already knew, and that's why it didn't happen earlier. And I absolutely trust that Niles will see his point of view. He knows Santa really well. So please feel safe.
