Day 4

[ Good morning!

Once again, Arataka Reigen has won immunity, because, I mean. Seriously. His work has been printed up at poster size and hung up around various parts of the studio. You might even catch it happening; a chunk of the wall will dislodge itself, spin 360 degrees, and then blend seamlessly back into place, now with the poster on it.

For everyone who participated in the logo contest, you may select a free Blu-Ray to be delivered to your dressing room. There's a wide selection; you can pick something from your own world or something from an alternate universe. You may have accidentally picked something from an alternate universe. Enjoy finding out as you watch them!

[...later...]

No!! You can't end it like that!! Why aren't they all guilty?! Why aren't they all dead?!

I believe they thought that what would be an acceptable ending in a book would not be so in a FILM. In particular, there was pressure in the American film industry for virtue to be seen to TRIUMPH.

Fortunately, the solution is UNALTERED. It would be a shame for such a work to be turned into HERESY.

You've got to be kidding me! Anyone can pick up a book and read! Yet, when it's a film, suddenly it's too 'dark' a story to tell!?

It's called: 'And Then There Were None,' not, 'And Then There Were Two Idiots Who Turned Out To Be Innocent!'

[never mind that wasn't the original title]

...And there's definitely a violation! The change that Lombard is some innocent impostor has no foreshadowing at all!

It is ODD. The book was rather popular, so one would think whatever damage could be done by such a story would already be DONE. But these things are often IRRATIONAL.

...Maybe it's a cultural thing. Christie was English, and this movie is American, right? It's not her fault that the Americans are such puritans.

That is TRUE. Americans have some strange IDEAS.
very_good_end: (This is fine.)

[personal profile] very_good_end 2017-03-09 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly.

Aaah. It really does make me mad though. There has to be an adaptation that stays true to the original.

Perhaps there IS. I do not know of one, but I do not have a very extensive knowledge of FILM.

[In fact, there isn't one until 2015, which Dlanor wouldn't know about.]

Me either... it's called "the idiot box" for a reason, after all.

[that's television, not film, but, details.]

I did not know it was called THAT.

[well, it's still the only faithful adaptation]

...Well, I suppose that's television that's the 'idiot box', not film, specifically.

Christie also wrote a theatre piece, didn't she? That wasn't a novel at first.

The Mousetrap, you MEAN?

That's the one... I have a bad history with theatre myself, so I never saw it.
