[Eva seemed to respect her less for not giving out a surname. These two really don't get along even if they knew each other in the past]

Forty votes, and thirty-nine contestants... that guarantees we can all live and someone will get their 'consolation prize', doesn't it? Though, I really don't think they'd actually 'kill' someone.

[she scoffs, like it's laughable]

I mean... I don't get it either, it's so inefficient. Why not just send them home with no prize at all? But a couple people seem to believe it's literally happened in the past.

[golden_dream]

[she frowns]

[she shrugs, shuddering]

Oh! Sure. Do you have tips for something in stock that's sweet, not too strong? I don't want to black out in here.

Sure. --That's actually what I'm drinking. You can have what I'm having.

[she'll smile, and serve Lotus a small glass of umeshu over ice]

Ohhhhhh! Good stuff! You're amazing, Rosa, I'd given the heck up on finding anything from home here.

[She raises the glass]

[she was already drinking, but... whatever; it was nice to have some escapism. Maybe this situation wasn't too bad. Most of the people here seemed all right, and Lotus had been very friendly.]

[she'd let out a sigh after setting her glass back down.]

Hah... I woke up early, but I wonder if I'll actually be able to sleep after this all happened...

[Lotus has to admit the situation could be worse. Hardly anyone has directly threatened her, and she's feeling pretty confident that somebody will vote for her, maybe even not somebody she knows. She looks down into her glass for answers to Rosa's question.]

If you're still not feeling tired, maybe it's because you were taken before your usual bedtime. Like, some kind of jet lag. Tomorrow will probably be easier once this all sinks in... [She sets to sipping the drink slowly.]

Ugh, what a terrible thought...

I still don't like the idea that we were 'spirited away' or anything, but there's no other explanation, is there? Other than this might all be... some sort of mass hallucination.

[she took another sip, to confirm the drink was real.]

[keybroad]

I'll give that theory serious consideration, but why would we hallucinate such an inconsistent bunch of people? Some know each other, others don't. Some are the same nationality, others aren't. It's like we're being assaulted by a markov chain of social media profiles.

[golden_dream]

... What's a markov chain?

Or for that matter, social media?

[keybroad]

Uh, they're computer things. Do you want the short version?

Is it very complicated? I've... never been especially good with technology.

[keybroad]

[Takes a deep sip of the drink. Almost half is gone. Thinking this over.]

Basically a Markov chain is a program that will make the computer show you different things that might be similar, might not. For example a Markov chain of numbers might be like 2, 4, 2, 4, 67, 76, 7, 6... it's not exactly random. It could be the same with the people here. Your brain dreams them from people you saw in magazines or on the news, and some of them are grouped together, other news programs you only remembered one person.

... I'm sorry, I feel stupid. Basically, you're saying that we're just imagining things in a familiar way?

[keybroad]

Yeah. Things we saw before, so briefly that we forget the details. But our dreamscapes store them.

[Sip.]

Though I'm still erring on the side of this is real kidnapping for now.
