It's weird how she died. They're implying she slept through the dates, but that seems unlikely. We were all on dates for the whole day, how could she have slept 24 hours straight? Not even the most tired of people can manage that.

Of course not. They want us frightened, so they chose someone with a good number of friends present and made an example of her.

Sorry about that. I couldn't back down when you were pressing me like that, but the truth is, I'm pretty useless.

[Stares at Akechi for a few moments with his arms crossed. There's many things he could say to that, and he's trying to decide what the best way to go about this is. Finally he shifts to holding his elbow with one hand and running the other through his hair.]

You're short selling yourself. True, there are many people who prove every day that they're useless, but in my experience someone or something supposedly useless is just not having its use applied properly.

[And that mouthful of confusing ass words is his way of effectively saying that Akechi isn't useless, but isn't applying his useful skills in the right way.]

Have you considered why they drew specific attention to your detective job title in the announcements? Or perhaps why they set the scene this way? Perhaps your use right now, whether you feel it or not, is to play your role as detective.

[Shrugs.] It's a theory, but suppose you do that and it leads to Ann, perhaps even Ryuji. Wouldn't you say after that that you were useful?

Frankly, I assumed they were mocking me.

It's very possible they meant it like that.
