I'm more interested in what you have to say. I don't know these people, and frankly don't care what's happened to them. But if there's anything other than the obvious that I should be worrying about, I'd appreciate you throwing it out there. You're the detective, after all.

Then I will not expound on the obvious fact that I was not in their group and instead simply express my belief that when they decided to make an example of someone, they chose someone whom others here knew well for maximum impact.

That is the only sort of impact worth having. There was a whole squad of you who knew each other coming in, correct?

"Squad" is not the word I would use, but yes, several of us are familiar with one another.
