I prefer a well tailored suit to jewellery it's true. But they're still expensive tastes, just of a different sort than the norm.

The essentials. Anything you can find in a spice cupboard. I just prefer them fresh. Nothing too special.

I'm not even a very good cook. I just like having something to... Nurture, I suppose.

It's good to have something like that to work on and clear your mind, break up the stress of focusing on work.

I have endless amounts of things to work on all the time. Very few people know how often I travel or try to take time off between submissions.

Do you travel? Or have you?

Even if you're travelling, you're probably focusing on reference material, aren't you?

I love to travel, but I don't get the chance to leave Japan much. I'm in Kyoto often, between family and work, but I haven't been any further since my daughter was born. We didn't even get the chance to have a honeymoon...maybe we'll go somewhere when she's a little older.

I don't have children, so I can't relate. I've been on my own since I left home when I was sixteen to work with my publisher.

I honestly don't have time for relationships. Never have. Never will.

It's a lot of trouble, really. I love my husband and children more than anything, so much that I'm surprised by myself. But honestly I'm a little jealous of the freedom of people who can stick it out alone too. I can only imagine how little spare time you have with manga deadlines, though.

It's a little-known fact that mangaka have roughly six hours of time to themselves a week depending on what kind of schedule they put out.

I have so much skill that I can complete a chapter and have it submitted in four days time, so I take vacations or time for myself. When I say that I'm 'busy', I mean that I would just rather be alone.

I don't care much for doing anything but drawing and visiting Europe. I have the nicest summerhouse in Italy that I never actually use.

[ Pouring money into its upkeep isn't a problem or anything. ]

If I make it out of here, I think that is the first place I am going to stop by...

That sounds lovely. You're quite the self-made man, aren't you? I'm really impressed, I respect that a lot. And especially after all this, anyone would deserve a nice vacation.

Well, Kyrie. You don't get to where I am at twenty years old without being aggressively persistent. I left home, I devoted my life to my career, had something in circulation at sixteen, and now everyone in Japan and part of the world know my name.

[ He pauses and briefly- BRIEFLY casts a forlorn glance toward his feet. ]

That wasn't so when I arrived here.

So... I've had to be aggressive again. Complacency gives way to weakness.

[She gives a little nod, with just a small quirk of a smile in one corner of her mouth.]

I can relate. Not the world famous part. But I went out on my own to pursue my dreams and work hard too.

And if you've already figured out the dangers of complacency, then you're far ahead of where I was, emotionally. Which is what will really get you places.

[Financially is a given since, like, she did well for herself and all, but not second home in Italy well.]
