Suppose we do the honourable thing, and vote for the children to be removed from the game first. There will still be those who will vote for someone to be put to death. In that instance, will the clown do as he did this time and force the child to execute them?

That is a risk worth considering when we cast our votes.

Certainly, he acted of his own will when it was suggested to him. But who is to say the rest may not be coerced into it for our hosts' amusement?

Given what we have seen so far, I would put nothing past them.

What're you suggesting then? We can't just leave the kids in this game with the rest of us.

I have no suggestions, save perhaps risking another volunteer to see if the killings follow the same pattern. Even then, it would be difficult to know for sure, since the methods of murder we have seen so far have all been unique.

Wasting time just seems like it's inviting trouble if you ask me. We've lost more people to these two being fickle than we have to the voting itself.

Indeed. It would only delay the inevitable, in one way or another, even if it might keep them out of harm's way a while longer.

Even so, if people are so adamant on protecting them, it is vital they do not defeat their own purpose by acting in haste.

Guess I'll leave that to the folks who thought that plan up. It'll work out better if we're all on the same page, won't it?

Yes. And it would appear I have particular reason to wish for the plan to go smoothly from hereon.

Do you believe we should alter the plan entirely? Or is it worth the risk entailed in testing the theory for the purpose of removing all doubt?

It is unlikely that testing the theory would remove all doubt. The only thing we can be certain of is our captors' unpredictability, beyond the basic rules they have set.

But if most here are interested in protecting the youngest, there may be some merit in it before we rush to any hasty decisions. If we alter the plan entirely, I could not possibly think of an alternative everyone would agree upon.

Ah. Of course. You speak of "the problem of induction." Good!

I can, perhaps, think of an alternate... as long as the votes are consistently unanimous, it does not matter how long it takes or who goes first. No one will die, and all will eventually be released. Therefore, it makes sense to give priority to those who cannot trusted to be consistent with their vote.

Incidentally, Shimada-san. Did you notice there was a vote for you? If you don't mind me asking, who do you believe directed that vote on to you? Do you have any enemies who would take advantage of the situation?

The vote is of no consequence. I have many enemies, both known to me and unknown.

Well... I understand that reasoning, certainly. But it is very worthwhile to know who would be willing to 'break ranks' so to speak. You cannot give a suspect's name?

I do not know who voted for me, and I did not vote for myself.

Hm. That does not answer the question. Of course you don't know who voted for you. You would only know this with a confession, and even then, you would have to deal with the doubt that they are lying.

I'll ask instead, is there anyone here you... shall we say, 'recognize' from your own place that you came from? I think it more likely a vendetta followed you here than not.

Also, to remove all doubt, let me hear the name you did vote. Did you vote for Ticky Mikk, according to the plan?

I could ask the same question of you, given that you too received a vote. It is equally likely that someone has taken a dislike to me here, or that the vote was random.

Ah. I am pleased to say I have already narrowed down the list of possible voters who would cast that vote for me to one solitary individual. I am hoping I will soon be able to draw out their confession and remove all doubt. I would find such a confession very credible from this individual.

Obviously. But not all here may be killers, even if their own life is under threat, and voting for them may simply thrust that burden upon them.

It is too early to judge, either way.

I simply believe that if we do not wish to throw the most vulnerable here to the wolves, then we should first strive to make better sense of the situation.
