[Just before the time votes generally get announced, the smoke alarm in the basement starts giving an ear-splitting buzz. Hope you weren't trying to get some quiet time in your dressing room, since for a good five, ten minutes, it is not very quiet.

[Then, thankfully, the alarm shuts off abruptly. A moment later, Little Debbie herself comes shrieking over the monitors. She looks furious.]

What in the world do you devil squares think you're doing!? You had to do this today? Really? First, the cold fishest of dates, then the world's most boringest voting, and now you're messing up our stuff? Don't you know what all we're dealing with here!?

Seriously, if it wasn't such an important day, you guys'd be in sooo much trouble! So give your praises for my my sweet fucking demeanor-slash-absolute lack of time right now for dealing with this dollar bin garbage, and start getting your keisters in gear! Romance is a legitimate genre, just look at the book sales! And I want a piece of that Fabio pie! So you nutty buddies are gonna get out there, you're gonna date, there's gonna be some sparks, and we're gonna get top trending numbers tomorrow, or else!

[The girl stomps her foot, near tantrum; Swiss Miss takes over.]

Whatever you think you've done, it did not work. No more mini-marshmallows until you improve. Marshmallows are for closers.

So what d'you figure's gonna happen to us after they kill one or two?

Assuming I'm not one or two? Given the little tirade, I imagine they'll attempt to keep things going as normal. In theory, keeping one's head down and nose clean should cause a positive turnout. The end condition of the game is just time, isn't it?

I guess. It'll be hard to keep things goin' normally if somethin's really broken, though. And there's no way they're gonna let it end just by runnin' down the clock.

We should stay on our toes. Whatever's happened to the votes seems to have kept anyone from being disqualified that way, at least, but who knows how long that will last.

Nah. I'm not really into history. I know enough to know that mine seems pretty different than anyone else here, though, so I can't really imagine any other explanation.

I know. I would be very interested to see the specs for a machine that could make that sort of travel happen easily. In the right hands, think of what you could do...

I've barely been anywhere outside my town or Anchor City. I was plannin' on travelin' places at some point anyway... that'd make it a lot easier, I guess. Different worlds makes my options a lot broader, though. I dunno what I'd do specifically.

I suppose in theory you could do anything, presumably with your choice of both location and time. Other than the one thing, I'm not sure how I'd narrow it down, either.

He's dead, for one. It's put an indefinite delay on our rematch.

...Which I realize is not a true answer to the question, but to be perfectly honest, everything involved in the matter involves so much "magic" items and "ancient spirits" and "alternate dimensions" and other unscientific nonsense that thinking about it too hard makes me want to give up on the whole thing in a fit of skeptical pique.

Yeah, can't help ya with that one. Sounds like this guy was important to you if you're even tryin' to figure it out, though. He was a rival?
