ROUND 4 DAY 4 - HAUNTED HOUSE PARTY

[For some reason, you feel good today...stronger. Which is great, maybe you're just psyched up for the latest ~fabulous event~ cooking from the ConAgra-McKee Foods kitchens...

[The Newlydead Game^TM ✨Super-Special✨ 👻Spooktacular🎃! 🗡Murdermance💘 at the 💀Murder Manse🏚!

[The house is a huge, Victorian monstrosity straight out of the mental idea of an Edgar Allen Poe story--delicate wrought-iron chandeliers and candelabra hanging from vaulted ceilings; ornately carved molding and flocked wallpapers, mosaics and inlaid wood floors. Most of the rooms seem legitimately old, cobwebbed and musty, with dusty dropcloths laid over the faded furniture, and distressing shadows cast in the flickering candlelight that never fails to not light up every corner, no matter how many candles are set up. You're not sure how the cameras are picking all this up with how dark it is. You honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of the taps in the bathroom actually run blood. A few of the rooms are locked, in particular a few bedrooms on the upper floors, and a heavy door off the mud room that's chained and padlocked; presumably it leads to a cellar.

[The exception to this is the conservatory, the one large room in a building filled with tiny, closed off rooms. One wall is lined with massive paned windows, another a huge fireplace, the others covered in stern portraits and other random Victorian-area knick knacks. And sprinkled around all of that are Halloween decorations, the kind more Pottery Barn than Party City. It's set for a party, complete with games like bobbing for apples and a spread of fancy Halloween "finger" foods and drinks that glow under black light. A playlist of seasonal hits like Spooky or The Addams Family Groove toots along near a dance floor. Need an outfit for the costume contest? There's plenty. There's also a smoke machine and a photo booth. In the backyard is a corn maze.]

Hellooo contestants, guess what time it isss? Why, it's only the best time of the year for sweeties like us! Time for Pumpkin Delights and Black Cat Brownies, the perfect treats to give to your trick-or-treaters this year! Now, even though someone's given US a trick today, we've provided a treat for you--a Halloween ball! Play with your fellow Casanovas, make your best impressions, and grab your favorite Sexy Pizza Rat cosplay! At the end, you'll get to choose from all the remaining contestants for your Marry-Kiss-Kill. And remember what we talked about last night--this time, if you deal to make it even, you're all going to be punished!

Well, Shadows are these weird creatures that generally are the embodiment of people's... emotions, I guess. They're usually not human-like, but there's some that can look human. At least, enough to pull the wool over someone's eyes for a bit. They don't have the yellow eyes, so I'm probably wrong, though.

Actually, Akechi and I are familiar with Shadows. Though it seems we understand the cognitive world in a different form to what you know as the "TV world".

[ towards Yusuke: ] You are? Wait, that means-- you guys don't happen to be familiar with the term 'Persona', would you?

[ although her answer for Akechi is for her to shoot him a bit of a frustrated glare ]

[Yusuke looks less amused, his expression a thoughtful frown.]

... Yes, we're familiar. They're the other selves awakened by those who hold a strong will of rebellion. By forging a contract with one's Persona, one gains the power to resist injustice.

Sorry, sorry, rhetorical question. It's just a little funny to me, that I ever thought it made me special.

[He's choking back that laughter now, which is a good thing, as it was of the sort that is maybe not super-duper-well-adjusted.]

Yeah, well... I have a Persona, myself. But I can't seem to summon it, here.

I also have a Persona, Kamu Susano-o. I can't summon it either, so I assumed this place has nothing to do with the cognitive world.

Not only that, but think of the bigger picture here! How many groups are there? Do they only exist in Japan? Even if there are years between occurrences, wouldn't this imply that the world is constantly teetering on the brink of supernatural chaos?

[ it used to be himiko and then kanzeon! but here we go ] And honestly? I have no idea.

...That's quite a sobering thought. We fought so that others wouldn't have to... But it seems there are even more dangers than the ones our group faced.

I must admit that even I'm a bit shocked... what a horrifying world we live in.

[Only lingers on that for a second before turning back to Rise]

Is it really that scary, though? I mean... things change all the time.

Considering the situation we're in right now? "Horrifying" might be putting it lightly.

...But there's no use dwelling on it. The investigation awaits! Let's go blow off some steam.

I agree. The sooner we investigate, the closer we come to putting an end to this particular set of horrors.
