Who named Ange-chan that name, and why that name?

[she knew 'why,' of course, because Kinzo had to have his Western-themed names, but, still]

It's kind of corny. Rudolf did, I think the kanji is meant to be a...sort of apology, while the name itself is meant to mimic mine. Knowing him and how pathetic he is when it comes to her, he'd probably say something like "because she's an angel".

Huh. That's a little unexpected. I would've thought that was yours, Kyrie-nee-san.

[she didn't know for sure, but she had to think Rudolf was responsible for Battler 'fight-man'.]

Battler was his doing too, it probably makes him feel important.

What about you, is there any particular reason for Maria's name?

I thought it was pretty and elegant. Like how I imagined the 'Saint Virgin Maria' must've been.

As for the kanji, I just picked something I hoped most people could puzzle out as 'Maria'.

That's a kindness, Battler never stops complaining about his name, and I can't blame him for it either.

Come to think of it, George-kun probably has the easiest time, doesn't he? It wouldn't even stand out as strange if he wasn't an Ushiromiya.

That's true, he can masquerade as having a normal Japanese name... I wonder if that was Hideyoshi-nii-san's way of circumventing that Ushiromiya tradition?
