Someone ultimately has to win. That also means that people have to lose. I just wish... that losing didn't entail everything it does, here.

We should probably fucking harden ourselves. [ He finds something to kick and kicks it hard. Hope that didn't belong to anyone. ] But hell if I want to this time.

We have time to do that. One person has to die this time, but no more than one person, if we manage things carefully. But no matter what, we can't give up hope, no matter how terrible the circumstances are.

I can think of a few people the group would want to kill. [ Dry voice. ] We'll see who they organize against.

One person made themselves a target this time, yes. But... you can never really know, can you?

I'm probably going to be a target sooner or later, so I've gotta sweeten up the group if I want to keep getting a vote.

[ Thinking about his fight with Junpei earlier, shit. ]

If you keep on doing what you have been doing, people aren't going to be able to afford to not get along with you, you've had too much control over their fates. But, even if that changes... I am not going to let you die.

That's exactly why they'd want to take me out, right? And even so, what if they send me to the hotel?

It wouldn't be my preference, though I'd prefer it to letting you die. Either way, though, some people might resent you for it, but too many people are going to want to be your friend.

Right now I've got one vote. We've just got to make sure it sticks to that.

I don't know if anyone would break arrangements to send someone else to the hotel, at least not this early into the game. There's more than one round left, after all, and anyone who votes against what they said is effectively painting a target on themselves. Later it might get trickier, when there's less people, but for now....

[ He's calming down now, his anxiety less in overdrive. He's just had a Bad Day and his head hurts from a combination of hangover and concussion. Speaking on which... ]

Hey, you think if I sweet talk the King again, he'll give me some aspirin?

[ He blinks blearily at her, not connecting the dots for a second. ]

Shit, no, it's not because of you. I feel fine because of that.

[ Mostly. ]

Then... what is it from?

[ He taps his head and then winces as he touches a knot. And then turns white because he probably shouldn't let her know what he asked Lotus to do. ]

Hangover.

[ Lesser of two evils to admit. ]

[Unfortunately that tap had drawn her attention, and now she's looking at it, and... noticing.]

What else happened?

...

[ Silence. ]

[A long pause follows, as she waits, and he doesn't say anything and she waits. Finally her eyes drop.]

Fine. Don't tell me.

[And she turns and walks away.]

Shit!

[ He wobbles after her and tries to catch her arm. ]

Fine, I'll tell you! Don't leave!

[ Desperate voice now. ]

[She stops and turns around when he grabs her arm, and is visibly frustrated and upset now.]

I'm not trying to blackmail you into anything! If you don't want to then fine! But you're not telling me anything, and if you want things to be more like they were I can't be the only person to try to let you in! I've been trying, and everything I'm trying to do keeps making things worse.

[ He looks both shocked and scared at once. She's right,
he's been fucking up, and he needs to fix it. ]

Can we talk about this not in public? Do we have to do this around all of them?

We don't have to talk about it here, no, the problem is we haven't been talking about it at all. We haven't been talking about anything.

I'll explain. If we just... if we can just go. [ He gestures towards the dressing rooms. ] I can't do it here. I can't fucking let them see my weaknesses.

[ He looks like he's ready to cry at this point. ]

[She bites her tongue against saying that killing himself in front of everyone is already taking care of that (he keeps getting in trouble, and fights, much more than usual, and it's not like she hasn't noticed) and just turns around again.]
