[ He rolls up his right sleeve, revealing a tattoo with roses and revolvers that's clearly older than anything done today on his upper arm. He gestures a little below the older tattoo. ]

I was thinking of a white feather around there.

I can definitely draw a butterfly!

[It takes a couple of faith-instilling seconds for her to get the ink in the tattoo gun, fine motor skills are fake, and then she's ever so carefully drawing the butterfly's black body. Her lines are a little shaky but given the intense, concentrated look on her face, she's taking this seriously, and it's not even quite the size of her own tiny thumb. Could be worse!]

What color should its wings be?

It's done?!

[Mary holds her wrist up to her face, turning her arm and her head to look at it from a few different angles, her eyes lit up like the sun. She hops out of her chair and onto the floor, bouncing up and down in place and beaming, still looking at her tattoo.]

Wow! Wow, wow, it's amazing, it's so pretty! I love it, I love it, I love it!

[She's slightly flushed with a light fever, but at least doing better than she was before! Slightly wobbly though because she's a little tipsy. This at least still puts her in better condition than a lot of the other people here.]

If you wanted something a little more complicated I might be able to help you. I'm an okay artist, I did a lot of drawing when I was younger.

[Mostly because she spent a lot of time in bed and there was only so long you could read? When they had books for her to get at, sometimes libraries were hard to get to, or hard to protect books from so they couldn't take them home. She offers a makeshift sketchpad for inspection, where she has sketched a few different designs in pen.]

[That's impressive] I think I can manage that.

[She considers briefly, then pulls her dress off. She's got a bikini on underneath, at least, she came prepared for this sort of thing.]

How about right above my hip?

[In goes the gold ink.]

I don't have any anaesthetic handy, so last chance to grab a friend.

[But she can tell Zelda isn't messing around today, and starts immediately.]

Don't worry, I'm prepared. [TOUGH ZELDA!!!!]

It is! [She's easily distracted, at least, and she's proudly turning her drawing around to show it to Rosa.] Do you think so? It isn't finished yet, but I want her to see when I'm done! You really think she'll be happy?

[Mary's going to come sprinting up to her a little later in the day, her sleeve rolled up so she can show her the yellow rose tattooed on her wrist.]

Look at this! We match, we match, Miss Lotus said we matched!

[Grabbing a new tattoo gun.] I can do that. Honestly, I'm not even sure what I want, so it will give me ample time to think.

[Climbs up over his back, straddles him at the hips, and starts pulling his shirt up.]

First, let's get this off of you.

Well, it probably depends on if you can see it or not.

[June is slightly flushed, and a little too hot, but she has totally had worse than this IT'S FINE SHE'S FINE]

[ He sits down and holds his arm out comfortably, resting the lower arm on a table but making sure she'll have good access. ]

That makes sense, especially if you want to make sure it has some meaning for you.

It's hard to ascribe meaning to so many things. I fear I might run out of meanings. [Despite how drunk she is, Zelda prepares everything carefully and methodically before taking his arm gently to start.]

In that case, you could get something frivolous just because it looks cool.

[Laughs!] You seem to have a good idea of cool. Perhaps I could just let you pick.

[Slightly concerned eyebrow raise at what prepared would mean in this game but ZELDA IS NOW SEVENTEEN AND HER LAND OF ORIGIN IS PROBABLY CULTURALLY EUROPEAN SO... IT'S FINE...

Diligently tattooing! The final version has two fewer petals to be less sacrilegious and also take up less time.]

[TATTOOING STILL HURTS A LOT HER FISTS ARE CLENCHED HER TEETH ARE GRITTED, OCCASIONAL NOISE OF PAIN. But mostly she's trying not to react and it's all good. This is great.]
