[For some reason, you feel good today...stronger. Which is great, maybe you're just psyched up for the latest ~fabulous event~ cooking from the ConAgra-McKee Foods kitchens...

[The Newlydead Game^TM ✨Super-Special✨ 👻Spooktacular🎃! 🗡Murdermance💘 at the 💀Murder Manse🏚!

[The house is a huge, Victorian monstrosity straight out of the mental idea of an Edgar Allen Poe story--delicate wrought-iron chandeliers and candelabra hanging from vaulted ceilings; ornately carved molding and flocked wallpapers, mosaics and inlaid wood floors. Most of the rooms seem legitimately old, cobwebbed and musty, with dusty dropcloths laid over the faded furniture, and distressing shadows cast in the flickering candlelight that never fails to not light up every corner, no matter how many candles are set up. You're not sure how the cameras are picking all this up with how dark it is. You honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of the taps in the bathroom actually run blood. A few of the rooms are locked, in particular a few bedrooms on the upper floors, and a heavy door off the mud room that's chained and padlocked; presumably it leads to a cellar.

[The exception to this is the conservatory, the one large room in a building filled with tiny, closed off rooms. One wall is lined with massive paned windows, another a huge fireplace, the others covered in stern portraits and other random Victorian-area knick knacks. And sprinkled around all of that are Halloween decorations, the kind more Pottery Barn than Party City. It's set for a party, complete with games like bobbing for apples and a spread of fancy Halloween "finger" foods and drinks that glow under black light. A playlist of seasonal hits like Spooky or The Addams Family Groove toots along near a dance floor. Need an outfit for the costume contest? There's plenty. There's also a smoke machine and a photo booth. In the backyard is a corn maze.]

Hellooo contestants, guess what time it isss? Why, it's only the best time of the year for sweeties like us! Time for Pumpkin Delights and Black Cat Brownies, the perfect treats to give to your trick-or-treaters this year! Now, even though someone's given US a trick today, we've provided a treat for you--a Halloween ball! Play with your fellow Casanovas, make your best impressions, and grab your favorite Sexy Pizza Rat cosplay! At the end, you'll get to choose from all the remaining contestants for your Marry-Kiss-Kill. And remember what we talked about last night--this time, if you deal to make it even, you're all going to be punished!

[Just before the time votes generally get announced, the smoke alarm in the basement starts giving an ear-splitting buzz. Hope you weren't trying to get some quiet time in your dressing room, since for a good five, ten minutes, it is not very quiet.

[Then, thankfully, the alarm shuts off abruptly. A moment later, Little Debbie herself comes shrieking over the monitors. She looks furious.]

What in the world do you devil squares think you're doing!? You had to do this today? Really? First, the cold fishest of dates, then the world's most boringest voting, and now you're messing up our stuff? Don't you know what all we're dealing with here!?

Seriously, if it wasn't such an important day, you guys'd be in sooo much trouble! So give your praises for my my sweet fucking demeanor-slash-absolute lack of time right now for dealing with this dollar bin garbage, and start getting your keisters in gear! Romance is a legitimate genre, just look at the book sales! And I want a piece of that Fabio pie! So you nutty buddies are gonna get out there, you're gonna date, there's gonna be some sparks, and we're gonna get top trending numbers tomorrow, or else!

[The girl stomps her foot, near tantrum; Swiss Miss takes over.]

[You find yourself in a one-room cabin with a bearskin rug and a large fireplace that's putting off a decent amount of heat...for now. It's bright and sunny out--extremely, surprisingly bright. That is possibly because everything outside is covered in a 2-foot-thick blanket of snow.

[Near the door are coats, boots, and snow gear, and outside are snow toys and maybe even a jacuzzi. Still, you'll probably want to be back in the house before the temperature drops too much. In that case, it'll probably be a blessing that the room is so small--the corners are drafty, and there's only two toasty blankets to be found. You're going to want (and need) to share some warmth if you want to be able to feel all your extremities into the evening.

[Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of cameras and monitors around. Once you've had a second to find your bearings, you'll find the blankly smiling face of the Swiss Miss taking center stage, though she seems somewhat disappointed.]

You see the ones you are with? You have failed to make a good impression on these people. That is unacceptable. This is supposed to be a fun snow day. If your relations are so frosty, how can you expect the weather to be anything but? Take some time to try and get along a little better, and maybe the weather will clear up enough to get you back to the house. Do not let each other freeze to death! We already called dibs.

[The monitor abruptly fades to black.]

[You find yourself on a broad, sandy beach; clear blue stretches as far as you can see. The beach is a long slope that stays shallow for a good 15 meters before sharply dropping off into deep water. There is nothing on the horizon but sky.

[Closer to where the white sand gives way to scrubby grass and shady palm trees is a hut with changing rooms and a shower station. A second structure holds any and all sorts of beach accessories--from beachwear to shovels, buckets, balls, games, floatation devices...most anything short of a jet ski can be found in here.

[Spaced down the beach are small cabanas with comfy lounge chairs, some fresh fruit and munchies, and frosty pitchers of soft drinks; a boombox plays a beachy playlist, perfect for relaxing. They're labeled with each group's names, and monitors in each of the structures display the instructions. ...At least, they do when not interrupted by our friendly hosts. Little Debbie appears on the screens, grinning in a floppy straw hat and old-fashioned swimming outfit.]

Ready for looove, everybody~? Alright, we've broken you up into groups of 4 or so to get in some one-on-one-on-one-on-one time! This one's pretty simple, just head to your cabanas and do some activities with your group. The more activities you do, the better the bonus, but all you've got to do is get enough information so that by the end, you can vote for who you're going to kiss, who you're going to marry, and who you're going to kill. So feel free to give each of your teammates some ~individual~ attention!

[Her eyebrows waggle at this. Swiss Miss gives her a knowing look, continuing, accent thick and musical.]

[ PREMISE ]

Murder Kiss Kill: The Dating Game that Keeps On Killing
Hosts: Little Debbie & the Swiss Miss

This is a murder/dating PSL.The first week will be game-wide speed dating, in which no one will be harmed. After that, the real fun will begin.

Each IC day, the group is broken up into double-dates (will include three-way dates when numbers are uneven). You all do a "romantic" activity together, and at the end label each as your Marry, your Kiss, or your Kill, with a brief description why. You must vote for one of each, and you can only vote for the other people in your foursome. This is how they will be scored:

Marry = 2 points
Kiss = 1 point
Kill = 0 points

Point totals will be carried with each contestant throughout the entire game, and are used to decide who ends up killed at the end of each round. In the event that a large number of players have the same lowest score, current round of marry-kiss-kill will serve as a tiebreaker.

Dates are posted as top-levels in an open post describing the content/theme of the date. Players may interact with anyone during the day, but must complete the date activity with their datemates. Actually marrying, kissing, or killing is discouraged during a date. THIS IS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY SHOW.

At the end of the day, whoever has the lowest amount of points has to leave the game, generally by trap door. So maybe you should learn to be better at dating!

Those who survive to the end will get ~fabulous prizes~ to share with their special someone.

[ ELIGIBILITY ]

Players: This is a PSL open to anyone on

misailury or

lollerdash’s timelines. If you are on one of said timelines, you may bring a +1 who isn’t.
Characters: Fictional characters from published works who are mentally AND physically high school/undergrad aged. While the dating aspects of this RP are going to be PG at most, everybody will have the chance to date everybody and we’d rather not have huge, creepy age differences.

Characters may keep continuity from previous rounds of The Newlydead Game

~~Currently you may bring one character. This may change depending on how many sign-ups we get, but no promises.~~ You may play TWO characters.

The game is meant to last six weeks, starting on Friday, October 6.

Rounds take an OOC week, corresponding to a day in IC time.
Double dates are posted Saturday morning PST
KMK Votes must be in by Thursday 6PM PST
Results are posted on Friday
Mingle posts will occur simultaneously to date posts

[ ACTIVITY ]

You must play in your date post and make your Marry-Kiss-Kill vote each week in order to make activity. If you do not play in the date, the others’ votes will default to ‘Kill’ for your character.

However if you know you’re going to drop, we would strongly prefer you just let us know in advance.

[To those of you who are alive, or at least who have not been killed by the Newlydead Game, it's been some time since the last round. Maybe you went home, to enjoy whatever prize the gave you. Maybe you went to somebody else's world.

Then again, maybe you've never heard the game at all.

Whichever of these scenarios applies, one day, when you're all by yourself, you'll find a tablet in with your personal possessions. Now, maybe your impulse is to break it or throw it away, but before you can do anything, Ronald McDonald's face appears on the screen and greets you.]

Don't touch that tablet, kids! It could save your life! After all, the next few hours of interview segments and heart-touching reunions will play a very strong role in determining who plays — and perhaps more important to some of you, who won't end up playing — in the next round of the Newlydead Game!

[If you're dead… well, your ghost finds itself on a couch surrounded and entrapped by a circle of salt, and watches the Ronald robot come to life and send out this message.]

((HOW THIS WORKS: This is essentially a Skype call where characters are interviewed by Ronald and each other. Play any character you like, be they post game or fresh. Make a toplevel and their name and what rounds they were in the Newlydead Game in the subject line (if applicable). Characters are free to speak to each other, including the ghosts. Players may also use an OOC journal to ask characters questions as "viewers" of the shower, oldschool CFUD-audience style.

You CAN talk about past prizes and anything else in this post. If you like, you can treat this post as a test drive, though it'll probably be a few weeks before I'm ready to run round 4, the non-lethal NewlyDATED Game, and I will probably be a little stricter on what characters are and aren't allowed at that time. Mostly just have fun. :V))

[ A panel in the green room slides up and reveals an elevator. All the lights in the game are turned off and it's obvious you're expected to take the elevator now. Why would you want to stick around, anyway? Once you step in, it leads down to the hotel. Look here for some examples of what the hotel is like! It's a fanciful place, full of pools and pretty much anything you might want. You've each been given a room to do whatever you want with. You can spend as much time you need here, though you're expected to leave eventually. Once you do, there's a hallway full of doors, each person has one that leads to their home. ]

[ For those who are hurt, there's medical bots that can treat your wounds on a level of current modern medicine. For those who are dead, you now find yourself here instead of the graveyard. A few of you may even find yourself in new bodies, provided by a giant 3d printer that makes fax machine style noises and leaves you with an imprint from our friendly insurance sponsors. Those who have been revived are as follows: Battler, Leo, Lucina, Nina, and Link from Round 2. ]

[ Things are absolutely normal, or at least what floats for normal around here, until ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE TABLETS FLICKER AND THE VOTES SCRAMBLE!?!?!?!?! First off everyone has too many and too little and then in between and then all sorts of things, and then it's back to complete normal. The entire process takes maybe thirty seconds, but it's a frightening sort of thirty seconds. ]

[ And then Flo flashes on the screens. ]

Oh my, oh my. It seems we have another hacker in our midst. We seem to have caught cute little Takane in our systems~

[ She holds up a tablet on which Ene appears in blue, then the screens flicker off to show Ene's lifeless body in the hotel before going back to show Flo. ]

Now, what should we do with this? Should we punish her in the same way we punished poor Terry? Or should we give her a chance to live? I think this time, we'll leave it all up to you.
